Frequently asked questions

Can self-clinching fasteners be used in stainless steel sheet?

Yes, but hardened stainless fasteners (typically 400 series) are required because the fastener must be harder than the sheet. We will advise the right part for your sheet thickness.

Is a dedicated press required?

They need a steady, parallel squeeze – a hydraulic press or a dedicated insertion press. Hammering is not recommended as it causes misalignment and lower retention.

What hole size is needed in the panel?

Each part has its own hole size and minimum sheet thickness. We provide these specs when confirming the part so your designers can add them to the drawing.
